The parach has been discussed among Pastor Donota, Pastor William Kaolonga and Pastor Joel Reynolds. The scripture for today is Proverbs 15:5. It says “Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise”.
One should always get pruned to become more like Jesus. And it happens through correction. Correction is the best way that makes a foolish person differ from a wise person. We should be prudent in listening to the word of God and walk in his ways when he is trying to correct us through his word and spiritual parents who are trying to correct us.
Hebrews: 12:10, 11 says “They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”
God disciplines us for good. We must always let ourselves to be prudent and be willing to listen to God and be willing to accept discipline and correction. How we respond to the correction also shows our wisdom. A wise person is always open to receive correction. One should never be proud and reject correction. People who try to correct us and then we despise them; it shows our adamant behaviour. He uses correction for our growth. God wants to develop and it is his way to correct us. And whosoever receives the correction
Correction always benefits a Christian life. It encourages us to be a better Christian and a better person to ourselves, our family and people surrounding us. Correction always helps us to be a better person and enables us to grow a good spiritual life. Whenever we are corrected we should never take an offence and try to put our feelings aside. One should take the rebuke and try to our behaviour and allow those corrections. And if there is an opportunity to grow, we should accept the correction if we want to grow in the Lord and to walk in Christ.
The action point is Correction helps us to grow in faith. We should understand God and ask God in what way he is leading us. We should ask God to give us gentleness, humbleness and love to fill in our hearts.
