Alexandra – Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, the leader of Enlightened Christian Gathering Church will today visit residents of Alexandra who were affected by fires that destroyed at least 352 structures, ECG News has considerably learnt.  He is expected in the area at 16:30.

The disaster management officials who spoke to ECG news online said that at least 650 people were displaced and were in need of relief supplies with limitless food, shelter, water, sanitary ware, clothes, blankets and other things. Prophet Bushiri along with the disaster management coordinators had an impression of providing assistance to the men, women and children who were affected by this disaster.

The church members told ECG news that the prophet travels first to show solidarity to the victims, consoles them that they are not alone and they are well aware of devastation.

The director told to the ECG news that “in difficult times people need a warm heartfelt word of support and warmth of hug to represent oneness. The church members had informed to the ECG news the visit was dealt to be secretive so that the prophet’s gestures are not turned out into a media spectacle.

“Of course we did not want to make this big. Also, understand that we are going to people who are going through a tough time. If this had been announced Tuesday, then there would have been cameras everywhere and people attending just to see Major1.”Instead, we just want the visit to be about the people of Alex who have been affected meeting Major1 and getting support”, he added. The women and children who were displaced have been sleeping at a crèche while the men and boys are sleeping at a development centre.
